Lux Ladies, a collection of four character designs, marks the first rendition of illustrations that reimagine 2000s internet nostalgia for a modern, mature audience. The art and culture of the early 2000s stand out for many reasons—one being the advent of the early web. This transition into online spaces opened new avenues for imagination and creative storytelling, particularly through dolls like MyScene, Barbie, and Polly Pocket.
As of 2024, those born in the early 2000s are on the cusp of adulthood, navigating new challenges in entirely different environments. Many are now in or graduating from college, entering the workforce, and confronting complex questions with no clear answers. The vision for Lux Ladies is to tell new stories in a style that evokes a sense of childhood comfort for those who grew up during the early days of the internet.
